(jana zielinski) Lladró, the Spanish manufacturer of hand-made porcelain statues, presented a sophisticated collection at the ICFF fair in New York. The collection brings a new dimension of beauty and sheds new light on traditional porcelain objects.
The Naturofantastic collection features candlesticks, lamps, vases, and tableware. The Equus breakfast set designed by Bod Sperlein was inspired by porcelain statuettes of horses whose legs had been turned into cup handles. The elegance and exclusiveness of this set is reminiscent of horse races in Ascot, the adrenalin of the Grand National Steeplechase in Liverpool, and the soft grass at the May Day steeplechase in Lysá nad Labem.
Other objects in the collection that were inspired by nature or the wonderful realm of imagination are equally brilliant as well (for example, the candlestick with corals or the statue of lovers by the Committee studio).
Committee, the British studio created by Clare Page and Harry Richardson, presented Re-Cyclos, a series of re-designs that represent interpretations of the romantic statuette manufactured by Lladró. The statuettes depict the individual phases of love with the help of flowers. They tread the thin line between beauty and kitsch so touchingly that we simply had to choose love in its prime for you. The couple is floating on the captivating scent of various flowers.
