(jiří macek) The Swedish studio of TAF has designed the Soft Parcel collection of seating furniture pieces for Rossana Orlandi, which suits this evening very well indeed. However, do not be mistaken. Even though the collection looks like a set of parcels at first sight, it is upholstered; one can perceive it as a contemplation about expectations.
I do not know why it is so, but the Soft Parcel collection of seating furniture pieces seems to arouse joy. It is a starlet, in a way. Even though it looks as if it was made from paper, it is made from foam and upholstered with fabric that pretends to be paper. The style of upholstering enhances this impression because it evokes a series of wrapped parcels. TAF answers the question of how to make seating furniture in the easiest way possible, which inspired the entire collection with the lightness for which the studio is renowned. However, the never-to-be-opened parcels also represent the design of expectations that each parcel or present inheres, the design of giving, and the journey on which the parcel proceeds. Thanks to the Soft Parcel collection, we can feel the excitement of the open story every day, as if we constantly experienced Christmas Day waiting for the closest family about to arrive or as if we suddenly opened our eyes and saw everything we are looking forward to right in front of us. We can build an armchair from tabourets and then answer the door. Merry Christmas.
