(jiří macek) The French studio of Five and a Half Designers has designed a permanent drop of ice for the luxury brand of Hennessy cognac. Water, incarcerated in the glass drop, is easy to freeze and remains cool longer than a typical ice cube. Thus, eternity is also elegant in their version.
5,5 designers are important players in the world of contemporary design. Small things from our everyday lives are transformed into great themes through their visions. The drop of ice made for Hennessy is one of them. It cools without changing the exquisite smell of the sought-after cognac.
5,5 designers created this elegant accessory for Hennessy, made for moments of deep thought and profound conversations, as part of the H20 project together with a glass water filter, which looks like a very aesthetisized funnel on first sight. However, the filter represents the designers’ contribution to discussions about our environment. 5,5 designers were inspired primarily by three factors that aggravate the state of the environment: the shrinking resources of drinking water, the inadequate waste of drinking water that is typical of Western culture, and the mass consumption of bottled water, resulting in the enormous production of plastic.
One could overstate that the drop opens the general theme of global warming because the designers have created a miniature model of an iceberg. One just has to find out how to keep ice in the drop as long as possible as it is attacked by the warm currents of cognac or the ardent atmosphere of a club. Thus, by environmentally-friendly means, one can subsequently apply this method on a larger scale or choose another path and start to manage water circulation in nature. This is simply a drop in the discussion. However, do not forget to filter and dilute.
