Animal Farm: Wooden Bulbs

(jana zielinski) Cape Town is not considered to be a centre of world design. However, a very extraordinary object has been created there, not by a designer studio, but by a creative consulting company entitled Animal Farm. The company presented its Lite project of marvellous wooden lamps that look like bulbs at Design Indaba in Cape Town last week. Animal Farm itself decides what bulbs will be fitted into your lamps.

The only way to make the Lite lamps shine is by installing energy-saving bulbs into them. If one uses any other type of bulbs, the lamps will not work. Personally, I most admire the red wires on which the lamps hang. What a wonderful suspension… By the way, do you not find the assembled animals on their website reminiscent of something? I see them as blood brothers of the best-behaved teddy bears designed by Imagery…
