(jana zielinski, jiří macek) Hana Zárubová and Štěpán Malovec, a.k.a. No., have designed a handbag by using a cake box (or Christmas cookies box). It is called no.sachr - one might wonder why he/she has never thought of that. The handbag is really beautiful – like the boxes.
As was the case with their premiere collection in 2008, in which they transformed the shape of a typical plastic bag into leather, the designer duo of dvojka No. has just presented a handbag of an ingenious shape that we often tend to overlook. Thus, the metaphor for the significance of cuts, quality materials, and detailed working in the world of fashion is, in my opinion, a metaphor for the miracle of the ordinary.
And what about Christmas? “No, we really did not want to be thematic. This is just the way it ended up,” explains Hana Zárubová. Great things often come unexpectedly; one never knows how great they really are. This handbag is so great that one can carry it in one’s hand or over one’s shoulder. It is elegant, witty, and storable. The cooks from the No. label know one also feasts with one’s eyes. Or would you like to hear a different story? A narration?
Hana Zárubová explains: “After a leather plastic bag and a leather pochette, we wanted to endow the packaging with a luxury material and form. Since we are looking for adequate packaging, we bought samples of boxes and various examples of paper packaging. Since the packaging-cake box won, we are now working on a NO.TAŠKA. We were impressed by its flat composed look so much that we told ourselves it would look great in body-color leather… so here it is. When designing the NO.SACHR handbag, we tried to preserve the technology of folding and the dimensions according to the original sample. We added an inner pocket and metal eyelets for a potential strap. The bag is all leather even on the inside. It will be made in a limited edition in black and body color.”
Enjoy.
