(jiří macek) Martí Guixé and his unusual moneybox, entitled Seed Safe and designed for Alessi, encourages us to focus on fruit instead on money. The amphora with holes, through which one lays aside stones and seeds, represents a green hope for us.
The Spanish designer, who resides in Berlin, has marvelously depicted his intention within a comic book in which an entire forest grows up from the seeds one has laid aside. Another interesting feature is the moment of randomness during which seeds, nuts, and stones from across our food customs assemble in the porcelain vessel. Thus, each of us will have a different forest. Of course, it is more of a game than reality; but the unconventional amphora with holes of various sizes is really a very beautiful object on which one can recognize the original hand of Martí Gauxé. It is a drawing across a savannah - graffiti of everyday.
The See Safe moneybox is part of the entire collection of objects for everyday use designed by Martí Gauxé for Alessi this year. Apart from the moneybox, the collection contains e.g. a sugar bowl, a clock, and a vase.
