(jiří macek) Konstantin Grcic has designed the Blow glass table for the new collection of Established and Sons objects, which was made in collaboration with the Italian glass brand of Venini. The object, made from blown glass, is one of those pieces that have changed the form and use of the traditional craft.
This is an object, a statue, a table, and primarily a clear shape, which makes the traditional art of the Murano glassmakers come forward thanks to its simplicity. Its perfect color and exact, minimalist, yet distinctive lines serve as an homage to craft and represent a desired goal of glassmakers in general.
References to other glass works of art made in recent years are also very interesting. Lanterne Marine, designed by the duo of Barberosgerby for Venini, Artworks objects designed by Harri Koskinen for the Finnish brand of Ittala, and Popelka (Cinderella), designed by Alfredo Häberli for Křehký, all represent a new tendency in glassmaking, which is minimalist, poetical, and combines imagination with a clearly defined function. The enchantment with richly shaped and decorated glass is over; the time of spontaneity, bright colors, perfect lines, and signals from the outer space has come. The masterly exhalation of glassmakers and blown glass is experiencing a renaissance.
