(jiří macek) The Scrigno cabinets, designed by the Brazilian duo of designers for the company of Edra, represent a crystalline grouping of dreams that are difficult to depict. One will be dazzled by the laser-cut reflexive acrylate broken into segments. The shape of the cabinets is hard to define; it keeps coming forth and vanishing.
Its mirror effect, combined with crystals of various shapes, gives the traditionally solid form of wardrobes, cabinets, and boxes an unexpected motion, lightness, and fantasy. Even though the cabinets may seem too artistic, their shape can hardly ever be glimpsed. The game they play with light and their surroundings, thanks to their structure, is much more important than the shape itself. High-tech metallics do not pull the Campana brothers away from their continuous quest for magical events and situations around us – they have merely changed their tools and substituted traditional crafts and materials with acrylate and lasers. The magicians go on performing magic tricks.
