Our Story: Stories from Swedish Barns

(adam štěch) The Swedish team called Our Story presented its work at the design fair in Milan this year. Young designers Katarina Häll, Karin Robling, and Philip Edis also exhibited solo collections of pure, yet witty furniture at Salone Satellite.

The Save collection by Katarina Häll was the most interesting collection. This likeable young lady created a cupboard, a stool, and a table that she linked with her childhood memories. As a child, she used to play in a country barn and now recollects the various latches and secret hiding places that formed the integral parts of the old haylofts. We remember them from our childhood as well. The heavy latches that prevented us from entering into mysterious spaces turn into pleasant colorful elements in the furniture designed by Katarina Häll. With their help, we can open and close the cupboard. They also form a secret drawer in the table. Thanks to their fresh ideas and simple, yet precise implementation, the Our Story team represents the hopes of the young legions of Scandinavian designers.
