Yveta Kroupová: An Amazing Clamp

(jiří macek) Yveta Kroupová designed an unconventional decoration for men’s shirts during her stay in Iceland. Even though the decoration was allegedly designed for a specific shirt, it opens up a very interesting option for the development of ties, which have become rather boring due to the perpetual trends of narrowing and broadening.

In fact, this is not a tie, but a textile element, which looks like an anomaly when placed onto the buttons. The result is not a downright frilled shirtfront – after all, who would like to wear that nowadays – but a Japanese constriction in the form of the constantly wind-battered mountains in Iceland, on Hokkaido, or in the Ceske stredohori. One simply cannot be uninteresting with a mountain range in place of buttons. This is very interesting indeed.
